Innovation in Baking by Puratos
I missed my work as an QC/R&D Assistant at Puratos Philippines. Puratos is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ingredients for baking, confectionery and chocolate industry with headquarters in Belgium.
My job includes baking and testing new recipes. As a food technologist, I also test the quality of incoming food ingredients as part of quality assurance. It was really an interesting job, but at times I got stressed of routine works and my enthusiasm in learning new baking techniques and recipes got short.
Now, I realized whenever I see new food stuff in the market, that I wasn’t able to try new techniques in baking and learn new recipes. One of the techniques I wasn’t able to practice is cake decoration. I didn’t able to be skilful and creative in making cake designs. What I learned most during my stay at Puratos is at least whenever I try a recipe, I know how to match ingredients and how to bake or cook a meal easily.
